Primary teachers and pupils give their views on the SATS tests, used in English schools to assess standards. John Bangs, an NUT spokesperson, explains that teachers feel constrained to teach to the test to safeguard the results of the school, with a detrimental effect upon the curriculum. Ed Balls, Minister for Children, Schools and Families, says the SATS process will not be scrapped but is subject to expert review.
